Kaixo! Indeed indeed, today we are going to Spain, no wait… today we are going to the Basque Country (Euskadi in Basque, Pais Vasco in Spanish). Do you know what Pintxos means? No need to call a friend, or to ask the public… Pintxos means Tapas in Basque! And if you want to try them out, you won’t have to fly to Bilbao since Itxaso Tapas recently opened in the Glockenbachviertel.***There aren’t many tapas bars in Munich but Itxaso is the only of its kind (as far as we know at least): 100% basque. Not only is the name of the place Basque, but the cook who is preparing the food with passion also turns out to be from Bilbao. For the story: the owners, who spent about 6 years near Bilbao, named their restaurant after their daughter. Itxaso also means “sea” in Basque…***The location: Itxaso is located in the Pestalozzistraße, nearby a few of our favourite spots. Outside, a couple of tables and chairs to hangout while sipping some fresh sangria. Inside, you can either do it the spanish way and stand at the counter or decide to get a table at the back. As it should, hanging “jamón” and bottles of spanish wine are reminding you where you are.***The atmosphere: Tapas is all about sharing. Sharing the joy, sharing the moment, relaxed and convivial… Itxaso is set up with this value in mind, in a rather modern environment. It’s pretty small so gets crowded and lively, quickly. A good spot to make new friends after a hard day at work.***The fffoood: Itxaso offers a great variety of delicious pintxos, with the very best ingredients and lovingly prepared by our basque cook. Tortilla, jamon serranó cut in front of the guests, croquetas, poulpo, chipirones and pimientos (our personal recommendation), all the best food from the Basque country is here available. Our recommendation: share several pintxos among friends together with a traditional sangria or a Galician beer! The prices range from 3€ to 6€ per portion, which is on par with Munich prices. Depending on hungry you are and how much you drink, you could end the evening with a bill of 15€ to 20€ per person.***Finding Itxaso: Homepage: http://itxaso.de/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itxaso.tapas Pestalozzistraße 7 (map) 80469 München Tel: 089 23 70 80 48 Opening hours: Tue. – Thur. 17:00 – 22:30 Fri.: 17:00 – 24.00 Sat.: 12:00 – 24:00 Son.: 12:00 – 22:00 Mon.: ClosedItxaso Tapas: Munich's Very First Basque Tapas BarFood72%Atmosphere74%Service70%Location83%Originality75%75%Overall ScoreReader Rating: (1 Vote)93%Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Connect with Enter your WordPress.com blog URL http://.wordpress.com ProceedYour email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* WebsiteSave my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
