You don’t realize it but we asked ourselves some pretty hard questions when thinking about our next review. Should we write about a good food delivery service? About best teas and anti-flu infusions? About cheap flights to warmer places? In the end we decided to get back to basics vintage, and show you today our latest catch: Café Pini. An intimate spot for laid back and not too demanding people who will be brave enough to go out despite the arctic temperatures!

The Location: Café Pini is located in the Klenzestraße between Gärtnerplatz and the Fraunhoferstraße Ubahn station. You’re right, right in the middle of the Glockenbachviertel.

The Atmosphere: Café Pini has an interesting fusion of vintage decor: stylish tables and chairs from the 60’s, dangerous retro lights, and kitsch 70’s wallpaper… this will remind you of a place, some where in Europe, stuck between the 50’s and the 80’s…  We found Café Pini to have a rather special ambiance offering for any “retro” fans and all others a casual and laid back atmosphere – what you’d basically expect in the Glockenbachviertel. With a little range of small Italian paninis and crostinis, house made cakes, and delicious breakfasts, Café Pini will welcome you for a well deserved catch up with old friends!

The Food: We both ordered the Pini Breakfast – for the lack of imagination maybe – or simply because we were feeling like having a consistent breakfast for a reasonnable price. Café Pini’s menu is made of a fixed breakfast and toasts/sandwiches part as well as a chalk board outlining the week’s specials: Panino with Trentiner Cheese, Toasted Sandwich with Coppa Parma, Focaccia with Italian Salami, Minestrone, Ravioli with Artichoke filling – the trend is italian all the way… but our feeling is that Café Pini seems to go the extra mile by paying attention to the ingredients they choose. The result is a simple yet tasty and affordable set of meals.

The Verdict: If you are looking for a different and intimate place, where you can enjoy something simple and affordable, Café Pini is the right place to go! A little café like we like them, with good quality food at affordable prices, at any time of the day.
