Who is not dreaming about going far, far away from Munich with such a bad weather? Probably no one… While waiting for sunnier days and fresh immaculate snow to finally enjoy the winter, we would like to invite you today for a very special trip… back to the 1900’s! Where? In a café definitely not like the others: Café Marais.***The location: For such a trip, you will have to leave the very city center and reach the Parkstraße, in Schwanthalerhöhe. The Westend district located in the west (duh!) part of Munich, and not too far away from the infamous Theresienwiese, really deserves to be known. Café Marais is surrounded by many cute and fashion little boutiques, and if by any chance you need to do your laundry, you will even find a pretty cool laundry shop in the same street.***The atmosphere: Welcome in an old-fashioned haberdashery from the beginning of the 20th century! For years the café was actually a pretty big textile store, and the owners had the wonderful idea to leave the inside… exactly like they found it. The result is simply breathtaking: all around the place, you will find beautiful wooden shelves full of hundreds of buttons, colorful ribbons, hats, leather bags, old post cards, jewelry and many other treasures from between 1900 and 1950… all for sale! We just loved it!***The fffoood: As a traditional café, Café Marais offers a variety of cold and hot drinks. If you are hungry, many sorts of Panini are offered on the menu: mozzarella buffalo / prosciutto, egg / tuna, grilled vegetables / goat cheese for around 4,90EUR. If you opt for a brunch, you will also find some, though limited, breakfast offers: croissants, butter, marmalade, müsli with fresh fruits, and some homemade French cakes such as tarte tatin or gateau au chocolat which are the specialties of the house. Prices are reasonnable though on the higher part of the scale. Café Marais offers as well a 4-dishes menu for romantic dinners or evening between friends. The price is in our opinion a bit high: 65€ with a glass of wine. We haven’t tried it ou t yet so we’ll need to come back at some point to give you a full review!***The verdict: The Süddeutsche Zeitung made no mistake about it: “das Marais ist fast zu schön um wahr zu sein”. Café Marais is definitely a perfect place to enjoy a hot chocolate or a nice cappuccino on a rainy day. Above all else, what makes Café Marais so special is its vintage atmosphere. It is nearly indescribable: you will have to try it, folks! ;) ***What the sour one thought: Café Marais is in my opinion a little jewel in Munich when it comes to cafés. It is not so often you see cafés with such authenticity and charm. The place can get full rather fast so make sure you don’t go at peak times. Top recommendation from my side!***Finding Café Marais: Homepage: http://cafe-marais.de/Parkstrasse 2 80339 München Tel: 089 500 94 552 E-mail: email@example.comOpening Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 8.00 – 20.00 Sundays 10.00 – 18.00Café Marais: a Vintage Treasure for Coffee LoversFood70%Atmosphere89%Service76%Location70%Originality94%80%Overall ScoreReader Rating: (0 Votes)0%Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Connect with Enter your WordPress.com blog URL http://.wordpress.com ProceedYour email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* WebsiteSave my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
